Cork Boat Race

June 29,  10am-3pm Hosted by Justin Ove

Get your cork cutters and have your glue guns at the ready to craft your winning, seaworthy vessel. Join us for our 4th Annual Cork Boat Race, on the bayou of Oak Creek!  Food, tunes and fun in the sun!!

Two Leagues: Showboat or Speedboatcroc
Three Divisions: Lightweight, Heavyweight and No Holds Barge

Who: The whole family! Friendly furry creatures also welcome
Where: The Creek
When: 10 am-3 pm (Contestants must register at 9AM)
Bring: A boat, sunscreen, blankets, chairs, beach umbrellas – make yourself at home!
Event Pricing: $30/adults, discounts apply.  $10/kids.  Boat fee $25.
Parking: Onsite parking for racers only.  Attendee parking at the Fish Hatchery (shuttles provided)

Rules:

  • 70% of boat must be made of wine cork (synthetic, champagne, screw tops or the real deal – if it closes a wine bottle it counts)
  • No toxic materials
  • Weight restrictions: Lightweight =25-75 corks, Heavyweight =76-126 corks, No Holds Barge =127+
  • No propulsion or power attachments in Lightweight or Heavyweight divisions; allowed in No Holds Barge
  • Cork usage: 25% minimum PSC corks
  • Corks may be cut, sliced, diced, cubed or melted into putty
  • Speedboats must stay intact until they cross the finish line; Showboats 51% must cross the finish line
