Quite often, Petite Sirah can be more complex when picked a little less ripe and this is a great example. Rather than being excessively jammy and one-dimensional, this wine has more subtle complexities. Like other wines from the Stronghold Vineyard, it possesses the distinctive site character of spice, earthy fruit, red clay and rose petals, but it delivers it in a soft, rich Petite Sirah package. A hint of two-year-old French oak helps fill out the palate and adds another layer of complexity.
