Petite Verdot is one of the hidden jewels of the Bordeaux region of France where it finds its way into blends as a color and tannin enhancer. Here we have a complex and structured new-world expression of this grape. I love the way the black cherry and cured-black olive characters of this wine are accented by bittersweet chocolate and hints of anise. The wine, while large, also has low alcohol and great acid. It should age well for several years.
